Project Life | week 16

I am so happy with myself and how I am sticking with
Project Life this year. I have never made it this far in the past
5 years. I am enjoying it so much and it is my me time.
I think what is helping make it more fun this year
is all the fun goodies I have been buying and hoarding.
I love mixing up kits and adding fun little doodads here
and there and making it my own.
I think the traditional way of just using one kit and
just sliding in the pics was to boring for me.
I can't do simple lol.

So I am on week 16 right now!
Not totally up to date but I am ok with that.
The only down side to working on catching up is
my journaling is very minimal. I have a hard to
remembering all the details and such.
I make up for that by adding lots of pictures.

I need to also work on my photo taking skills for my layouts.
You would think for non moving subjects it would be easy.

This week was a pretty normal day to day week for us.
We have been having amazing spring weather full of sunshine.
Just the way I like it.
Totally makes up for the gray dreary winter months.

Monday there was no school again for a teacher work day.
I had promised Michelle I would take her and a friend to the mall.
I also had my nephews. Jordan decided to stay with Gramma.
The kids and I entertained ourselves at the play area, had some lunch,
just let them go to walk the mall (it was a quiet day) and then
they each got a quarter to get some candy. That was probably the best part.

The rest of the week was homework, baseball practice, another nephew of mine
had his birthday so we took him for the traditional ice cream sundae, Jordan
mowed the lawn, and a cute pic of Jordan before school.

The weekend was super nice.
Friday night Jordan and I went to mother/son dodgeball at his
school.  I am on the Parent Volunteer Team so I helped put on the event.
It is a yearly one that is super fun!
This year we added in a BBQ that was a huge hit!
Josh came too to help cook hotdogs and hamburgers.

Saturday Josh played in a two day softball tournament.
We chilled around the house. Jordan really wanted to mow
someone's lawn but we couldn't find any takers.
Sunday Jordan got to go with Josh so that left us girls at home.
Michelle and I invited my mom to walk to NY Pizza with us
for lunch. Afterwards we enjoyed some music and sun bathing in the yard!

That is week 16!
If want to check out more Project Life layouts by me

Along with the great products I have received for she glossy
I have also started getting kits from Studio Calico.
This week I combined products from both these sites.

I am currently on week 15.
For us that was Spring Break.
We had no big plans but hanging around the house
and enjoying the great weather.
I was in the middle of battling chronic headaches and
still figuring out my new "normal"
Getting out for me always ended in a really bad
headache that landed me back in bed.
Sometimes I just didn't care and knew I had to
enjoy the sun and get the kids out.
I am forever grateful to the amazing grandparents
my kiddos have who love spending time with them too.

My husband was also wonderful and helped out a ton when he got home from work
with dinner or taking my son for a bike ride to get ice cream.
Jordan also spring training for baseball put on by our high schools boys
baseball team. I was also in the middle of participating in #myselfiescrapbook
so I included a pic of me in the layout too. I don't get in much since I am always
taking the pics of everyone. My daughter took that one for me.

My sisters and I took all the kiddos to the river for a picnic lunch and play.
At the end of the week my mom took Michelle for manicures and lunch.
Josh's parents took Jordan for the weekend.
He got to stay for the first time on his own.
They said he was a totally different without his sister there.
When he is with you one on one he is so laid back and loves
having lazy time to just snuggle up with you. He had a great time
with his grampa watching movies, taking their dog Lou for walks
and going to the driving range.

Be sure to check out she glossy site for

This week I worked on my second layout using products from she glossy!
It has been a lot of fun so far being on the design team!
I love using different pieces to put together some of my own
cards so I didn't a little of that again this week.

I am still in catch up mode on 2015.
This week I worked on week 14.
It was a pretty busy week.
My nephew's birthday, Jordan had a spring concert
at school, baseball season is in full swing,
and the weather is really been amazing.

For my week 14 card I loved using the stickers from Anything Goes stickers.
Are tradition in our family is the birthday kid gets a sundae at Edaleen Dairy.
This is the best ice cream and they have a store just minutes from our house.
They have 75 cent kid cones so we are there a lot lol.

Also included in my products this week were these
arrows stickers by Mambi sticks. I absolutely love them and
may have used almost all of them.

Be sure to check out she glossy!

Project Life layout | she glossy design team

Today I am sharing my first layout using the she glossy product I received.
As I mentioned on Monday in my Project Life Monday Linkup post I am one of the she glossy Scrapbook Design Team Members. Going through the product to mix and match what I wanted to use
was a lot of fun. I think this layout of Easter Weekend came out great!
What works best for our family so the holidays aren't t crazy is we switch off every
other holiday! This year we spent Easter Sunday with my husbands family.
I didn't want to miss out on our yearly Easter egg hunt with all the cousins
from my side so we did a little picnic and Easter egg hunt on Saturday!
Made for a fun weekend.

I love bringing items from different sets together and putting my own touch on cards.
I did just that with all the cards I used except one. With the products I received I
so many fun word stickers to chose from. I really love adding words to help
tell the story on my layouts.

How cute are my two nephews?!
Love them to pieces.

This may be my favorite card I pieced together from the layout.

Check out she glossy!

All righty here is my week 12!
Slow but surely I will catch up!
Still doing way better then my past 5 years!!
That there is a win!
I owe it all to my link up lol.

For this layout I used a mix of cards and embellishments.
I am finding myself always drawn to using me & my big ideas
various embellishments. Love them!

I also I got me kids involved this week.
Jordan wrote down a list of hobbies for me.
They are quite cute so be sure to read them.
Michelle wasn't home today when I put together this
layout so I left a journal card for her to fill out.
She went on a hike with two of her good friends
and I want her to write it about for me since I wasn't there.
Enjoy!

#myselfiescrapbook | week 1

When I learned about a group of ladies I follow on instagram
were doing a challenge to document yourself throughout the month of April
through selfies I knew I wanted to join. I have been working on getting in more
pics this year and an album about "me".
It was created to help us tell our stories with prompts given each week.

The first week was short and all about just getting started.
Here is my first layout of selfies to document the first few days
in April. I did Wednesday through Sunday on my first layout
because the next week they gave us a list of prompts to use.

I am putting my pages into my 6 x 8 project life planner
album I started which is now my all about me album for the year.

I am linking up to the blog hop over at Jen's blog Sunlight and Air

Memories, emotions and dance through music

I recently completed a list of my all time favorite songs.
There are way to many to list. This got me to thinking
about music and the impact it has on my life. Which
lead me to journaling to add to my list.
Here is what I write in the journaling.

I have always loved music.
Both listening and singing along.
Music for me holds memories and feelings.
It is a way for to express myself when the words aren't there.

I would love it if my life could be an endless Glee show.
I could have a group of spirited singers with me all day
that would burst out into song through out the day.
We would sing together with passion through the days
struggles and joys.

When the kids are at school and it is a day I will be home I like
to grab my phone, plug in headphones and listen to Pandora.
I have three different stations for different moods.
I have A Thousand Years Radio for my more quieter times or
just need some easy listening. Glee Radio for when I am moving
about doing laundry or cleaning. The third one is Pop and hip hop
workout for when I go running or need to break out some dance moves.
If I put my headphones on I am always sure to lock the front door so
I am not caught belting out songs at the top of my lungs.

Music also has a way to bring up emotions.
It can bring me to tears as I go back to a time in my life
that was really hard or special.  I have two songs that always come
right to my mind that can have me in tears. The first is I Promise
You by N'SYNC.  I can not get through this song with out tears pouring
down my face. This song takes me back to when I was 18, a senior in
high school and pregnant.  I would drive to work, this song would come on
the cd I had in. With tears streaming down my face I would sing this song to
my daughter with a hand on my round belly. I knew I loved her so much already
and wanted her to know that no matter what I would be there for her.

The second song Just a Dream by Nelly also takes me back to me
in the car. This time I am driving down the freeway to go be with
my sister and preemie nephew in the NICU. The song came
on and I was singing along and it got towards the end to
a verse that says "If you ever loved some body puts your hands up.
Now they're gone and you're wishing you could give them everything"
This made my start bawling and I still do every time I hear it because it
takes me back to that moment and those feelings. My sister had recently
given birth to twins at 25 weeks. My little nephew Carter gave this world
his best  try but his little body just wasn't able. I felt so sad
for her and the loss of my nephew Carter. I wanted so badly for there to
be something that I could do for her to take away her hurt and loss.  To
have my nephew back in her arms to fill that empty void. But there was
nothing I could do but be with her and Cohen. So I drove on, singing
and crying on the freeway.

Music is something that is special to me.
It holds so many memories and has helped work through
frustrations, hard ache, helped me celebrate and express my feelings.
I will never tire of listening, remembering good times and the not so good,
singing my heart out, and getting my dance groove on.
No matter your mood, thoughts or feelings there is a song.

Project Life: 7 steps to complete a layout in small pockets of time

As you know I have already been following behind on Project Life.
At least I know I am not alone in this.
I have been reading Jessica Turner's new book The Fringe Hours.
This book is has really hit home with me.
I am a time waster and this is all about taking your free time
whether is be a little pocket of time or a few fringe hours to do something you love.
We all have those little pockets of time through out the day.
Five minutes here and there that we would normally just grab our
phone and veg out until time for the next task or we are needed.
I decided to take my little pockets of time and use them to do things
that bring me joy and happiness. One of those things being completing
each day a small task to create my project life layout for the week.
I get overwhelmed sometimes thinking I have to sit down and complete it all at once.
Here are some steps I came up with to slowly complete my layout during the week.
Each step takes about no longer then 15 minutes which is perfect for
little pockets of time in your day or week.

Step 1: Decide on photos
Go through the weeks pics from phone and camera and pick which ones you want to use.
Also keep in mind what pocket layout you are using. To make things easier for me I use the same layout every week design A.

 Step 2: Print up pictures
I print up pics from my phone using project life app for 3x4s and print them from my
canon selphy printer. Cut pics if needed. If you don't have a home printer then get pics ordered.

Step 3: Pick your cards
Look through cards and pick enough cards to fill in the layout. I have all my cards sorted by kit and within each kit by color. When looking for cards I can either pick a kit or if want to search by certain
colors that is easy to do too.

Step 4: Journal your week
Write up journal cards using notes from the week, Instagram, Facebook, texts and calendar.
Another way is to take a little pocket of time each day to journal a little or
through out the day if you want to remember a certain conversation, way you felt during a moment, or something your child said.
Step 5: Bring everything together and put in or on layout.
I put all my stuff on top because I know I will be photographing
it after I am done for my blog.
Step 6: Add any special touches such as embellishments, letter stickers, stamps ect.
Also this is a good time to look over writing and check for errors.
Halfway through the layout below I realized I had the wrong dates.
I included a close up pic on how I fixed it.

Step 7: Photograph for blog and put in album
