go juice

I decided last week I wanted to start introducing
juicing into my diet.  I am bad with getting close
to my daily servings of fruits and veggies.

Over the weekend I bought the cheapest juicer on the shelf.
I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on something I
did for a week and then quit :)

Monday morning I wanted to jump right in.
I am going to to substitute my go to breakfast of
coffee and an english muffin with a glass full of juice!
I am also going to drink my 64 oz of water a day.
The only problem was I didn't have time to
go to the store. Well...honestly that's a lie.
I had all day Sunday to but I chose to sleep
and lay on the couch all day since I had the house to myself.

Anyways, come Monday I only had what was in the fridge
to juice with. I had two apples and a huge Costco size
bag of baby carrots.
Mondays recipe was
2 apples
15 baby carrots

Surprisingly it was good.

I don't know if was my glass full of fruit and veggies
or the 11 hours of sleep I got but I had energy!
I hit the ground running and cleaned like a mad woman.
I did the dishes which moved into me pulling out
everything from under the sink and wiping it all down,
throwing out stuff, reorganizing, wiping off the hand held vacuum,
cleaning the garbage can, and then putting it all back.

Halfway through cleaning under the sink I remembered Josh
saying the other day how you couldn't see through
the little window on the stove.
I then remembered I just read something from pinterest on that.
So I covered the inside of the stove door with a baking soda paste.
Let it sit while I finished my first task.
I scrubbed the oven for like an hour
and you can now see through the glass!

Tuesday I still hadn't gone to the store so
I juiced like 25 baby carrots with 2 cups of
defrosted mixed berries.
This was yuck :(
I drank it down though.
I decided I needed to make it the Green Barn.
I got lemons, limes, ginger root, kale leaves, oranges, apples,
celery, cucumbers, and pineapples.

Wednesday I used a recipe I got from Reboot Your Life.
Mean Green Juice

1 cucumber
4 celery stalks
2 apples
6-8 kale leaves
1/2 lemon
1" ginger

Juice
Pour over ice
Enjoy!

I could not decide if I "enjoyed" this or not.
It made a huge glass.

Thursday I tried Great green fruit blend but changed it a bit.
I juiced
1/4 a pinapple
1 apple
2 oranges
1/2 lemon
I dumped all that in the blender then added
2 cups chopped up kale leaves
10 frozen strawberries

This is actually a very yummy juice/smoothie!
It is very filling.

I even made Cohen {my nephew}some apple juice.
He thought it was pretty tasty too.

Friday I experimented more with just throwing things in.

I didn't have time to juice over the weekend.
It is quite the process in the morning to get everything
prepped, chopped, peeled ect.
Then you have to clean all the juicer parts after.

Come Monday though I was right back at!

So why I am trying to get juicing into my daily life.
well....
I need to eat way more fruits and veggies
I want to get fit and healthy
I want to lose weight
I need ENERGY
and I need help with keeping things regular
I am hoping it will help me with my over well being

By Friday of the first week I did drop 3 pounds with the help of calorie counting.
But then I went to a wedding had some wine and pasta, ate pizza on Sunday,
and wasn't as active as I should have been.
So honestly 2 pounds for the week!

Now that I have juicing down for breakfast
{I am sipping one now!}

I have a few goals I want to work toward
Goal #1
Get a little more adventurous with veggies!
Some recipes call for things like
beets
fennel bulbs
plum tomatoes
red radishes
broccoli
cabbage
red onion
peppers

I am not close to be ready to drink an all veggie juice
but I would like to work towards it.

I played it safe with
kale leaves
cucumbers
celery
and carrots

Goal #2
the long weekend reboot
where you juice only for a weekend.
I would probably do it during the week
since much easier for me!
I am thinking middle of December.

Goal #3
the classic reboot
15 days of juicing and eating only fruits and veggies!
I want to show myself I can set my mind to something,
follow through, and do it!
I plan to do this in January
after all the hub bub  of Christmas.
January of course the time of year to start fresh and clean!
