choir concert

Last night Michelle had her 6th grade choir concert
"Music in our Schools".

It was just the 6th choir and they only sang three songs
which made it very short and sweet!

They sang
Follow the Drinking Gourd
One World
I've Lost my Homework.

Apparently I can only upload one video.
She has another one on her birthday in June!
She is not to thrilled about that but should be fun.

getting fit, get healthy {update}

I am now done with the 8 week challenge.
Well....honestly I didn't do the last two weeks.
Week 7 we were on vacation in California for the week.
I was not ready to try and keep up with the challenge, track calories,
and fit in exercise while on vacation yet.  Hopefully some day I will
be able to get up with healthy habits while enjoying a vacation.
I did gain back two pounds that week.
Week 8 just never happened because my husband was over the whole
challenge. I won in points between the two of us!
My prize if I won was a weekend to myself!
He is going to be taking the kids away for the weekend so
I can relax and do as I please.  Hopefully catch on project life!

When we got back from California I did jump right
back in to calorie counting, exercising and following a new plan.
I lost two pounds the first week and I weigh in again on Thursday.
I am giving myself one free day a week to eat whatever and not
worry about counting calories!  It is nice to know you have that day.
I always tell myself on Saturday you can eat that.
Just wait until Saturday.
I usually have Saturday as my free day.
I used to take a whole weekend but I am doing better
at just sticking to the one day and then jumping right back
into my routine on Sunday.
I aim to eat around 1200 calories a day and have been
using my couch to 5k app for exercise.  I am getting up early to do it.
If I tell myself I will do it later I never do because I come with reasons
not to do it.  It is a much better way to start the morning.
I get some time to myself, get to listen to music and have time to think.
I find that also have more energy in the day and more motivated to do things.
I am not a morning person. I hate getting out of the bed in the morning.
I have to set my alarm at least ten minutes before I really want to get up
because I lay there so long not wanting to get up.

That is the update for now.
Still trying to lose weight.
It is not happening very fast at all
but trying to keep up with a healthier more active lifestyle.
I am a get quick results person so i get discouraged easily
and always quit in the past but not this time!
I will reach my goal weight no matter how long it takes.

our weekend

What a weekend.
It was long but quick at the same time.
The kiddos headed off to Josh's parents house
Friday afternoon for a weekend with them.
From all the goodies they came home with
it looks like they had a lot of fun!
Josh's mom had all kinds of fun St. Patrick's day activities
planned to do with them. They decorated hats and mugs.

They dyed flowers green, decorated cupcakes and put together
several fun snack bags! They also got to go to a parade!
I got these pictures of them off her facebook!

She made them green eggs which Jordan said tasted just like regular
eggs. Glad he tried them and didn't let the color throw him off.

While the kids were having a blast with the grandparents
Josh and I hosted guests at our house and spent Saturday
and Sunday at Softball City in Canada.  Josh played in a
Coed tournament and they took 2nd place! Not bad.
I got to keep book so I never really had the chance to take any pictures.
Saturday was a long, cold and wet day.  We saw sun, rain and hail.
The rain pushed the games back an hour so they didn't even play there
last game until after 7.  Lucky for us Josh purchased a portable BBQ
to take to tournaments so we can eat during long game breaks which can be two
to three hours sometimes.  They had those types of breaks Saturday between each game.
Sunday they played all back to back games.

We didn't get home Sunday until about 7.
We were all pretty tired.

Disney Vaction

I finally got around to blogging about Disneyland!
A slow process going through the pictures and trying to remember as many details as I could.
Part of blogging for me is it is our family journal for us to look back on remember
events, birthdays and our day to day life as it was at that particular time.
Since I had so many pictures I did a post for each day!
You can read about each day below by clicking on the day of the week link!
Enjoy!

Day 1 {Monday} was travel day

Day 2 {Tuesday} was Disneyland Park

Day 3 {Wednesday} was California Adventure

Day 4 {Thursday} was Huntington Beach

Day 5 {Friday} was hang out by the pool and travel home day

home bound

Friday was our last day in California.
Our flight wasn't until 7 that night so we had
the day to relax by the pool.
We were out by the pool by 10:30.
The kid water park area didn't open until 11.
Every {but me} swam for a bit before we switched pool areas.

The pirate water playground had slides, water cannons and a pirate ship.
There was also a little sprinkler pool, wading pool and hot tub.
Jordan loved it!

Around 2 we packed up and headed to grab some lunch.
We then returned the car, grabbed a shuttle were back at the airport.

We didn't get to our hotel until midnight.
Took a bit for the kids to get settled down and to sleep.
The next day Josh had a softball tournament in Edmonds.
It ended up getting canceled around 3 when it started down pouring.
They did win all three games they played!

Huntington Beach

After two days of go go fun we knew we would need a down, relax day.

Luckily we couldn't have asked for better weather on this trip.
With a rental car we had the freedom to drive to the beach
and spend the day in the sun!  A few of us got a little to much sun.
Josh and I got pretty sun burnt.  A few weeks later and I am still peeling :(
It was totally worth it though. I could spend every day on a beach in the sun.
Very peaceful & relaxing
{if you ignore the children and the pesky seagulls}

Seagulls loved trying to take off with our food every chance they got!

We stayed until about five.
Packed up and headed back to the hotel.
After some nice showers we headed to Downtown Disney for dinner.
We ate out at the Rainforest Cafe.

On our walk back we stopped for icecream.
Then it was bed time for all!
