What a day

I woke up this morning excited to drive down south
for one of my best friends from high school baby shower!
She is having her first child and I am so excited for her.
I was on the road by time because I had to make a few stops.

I had a free coffee from Woods so had to take advantage of that.
I was on the road, ipod playing, and thought to myself
that I better double check my purse for directions.
I did not see them so I turned around and went home for them.
On the road again singing along to ipod.

I had to stop by the phone store to see if they could do
something with my defective phone.
I have been having a lot of screen issues with it.
It is all touch screen so when that doesn't
work the phone is useless.
I hadn't been able to use my phone since Friday
and it was driving me nuts.
Plus I tend to get lost a lot and didn't want to drive to Seattle without.
They were not able to do anything for me there.
I got there early so had to wait 10 minutes.

I would have to go another store to get the screen replaced which would take
one to two hours or upgrade for a cost.
I couldn't get a hold of Josh and time was catching up with me
so I just left and headed to pick up a baby gift.

I got back to my car started digging around for me keys.
Not there.
Look in car window and there they were in the ignition.
I must have pulled them out part way because my car won't
lock if they are all the way in.
I don't have a phone that works so
I head back into Kohl's to call road assistance.
The guy in the area was busy so they said 45 minutes.
So I sat and sat waiting for him to come.
I saw the same people go and shortly later come back out.
I even started pushing the button that opens the door to let people in
and smiled as I sat and waited.
Finally after an hour I was getting tired of waiting.
I went back in called again and he was supposedly coming.
He got the car open in less then 5 seconds and I was on my way in 5 minutes.
 I clearly was not going to make the shower
and I felt terrible about it.
I was really looking forward to going and I had no way to let her know.
I did have Josh message her on Facebook for me.

I then was feeling sorry for myself.
I talked to Josh and he said I should go ahead and upgrade.
I went back to the store upgraded my phone!
They were unable to get my phone numbers moved over though.

Home I went.
Greeted by children and husband.
Hung outside.
Played on phone.
Did dishes.
Made lazy dinner for the kids.
Watched some football.
I think it is going to be early bed for me tonight.

Date Night

Josh and I were able to have a date night last thanks to my sister in law Christine!
A couple of weeks ago we started trading our kids so each
of us got a night during the week to spend with our husbands.
I definitely need these nights to reconnect with Josh
after busy weeks and weekends.
We don't do anything fancy but having that
uninterrupted time together to talk is wonderful.
Last night I took Josh with me to get pedicures.
I won't go into to much detail of his thoughts on that
but he said, "it was interesting to say the least."
I got some really good laughs out the experience.
Afterwards we got some stuff at the store and came home
to cook dinner together.
We even turned off our cell phones!

We watched some episodes of a show we have
become quite addicted to on Netflix.
Hopefully this is something we can keep up.
There is a great blog {The Dating Divas} full of fun at home date night ideas
that I hope to be able to put together for us!

Relaxing weekend

Josh and I wanted {needed} a relaxing weekend just the two of us.

Friday the sun was shining so Josh wanted to play golf.
I don't mind riding along to drive the golf cart, help find lost balls,
 and I also can take pictures.

After nine holes it was starting to get dark and cold.
We called it a game and headed home to change.
We grabbed dinner at Bob's.
Then a few food items for the Glen.

We slept in Saturday until noon.
Made brunch together.
  We spent the day relaxing, talking, going on a walk, playing scrabble, attempted a fire,
and ended the day with a movie.

The fire didn't work out as planned.
The wood was to wet.
We gave it a good effort and had it going for about 10 minutes.

Sunday we again slept in until noon.
Made brunch and cleaned up before heading home.
The weather was beautiful today so spent time outside.
In the evening I went to a craft night at my friend's house
and made a very cute canvas for my wall.
I just need to add pictures.

I love having the one on one time with Josh.
I think every couple needs to make the time to spend one on one time together.
It really brings us closer together again.

a HUGE thank you to my mom for having the kids all weekend!
You can read all about their fun weekend here!

Climbing Diamond head

On Wednesday my mom and I decided to adventure out and go hike Diamond Head.
We were on the city bus by 8:30 in the morning and on our way.
We got dropped off at the very bottom and had to walk up a road that led into the crater.

The Brochure I got says this about hiking the trail-
From the trailhead to the summit of Diamond head Crater, you will hike 0.8 mile one way and climb 560 feet from the crater floor..  Portions of the involve steep stairways. Other portions of the trail go through a long tunnel which is lighted.

{sign at the information center gives you a visual of where we are}

 About halfway up

look out point

We finally made it to the observation station after climbing 74 steps, going through a tunnel, and then climbing a second set of 99 steep stairs.
We also had to listen to a lady sing the ants go marching to her daughter the whole entire way.
Was not a huge fan of that.

We then climbed another set of 52 stairs to the third level.

Ready to head back down.
These stairs aren't as bad as the ones we had to come up thank goodness!

We made to the bottom.
Got some water.
As we were walking across the parking lot to walk to the bus we were sure it was at least 11 or 12 o clock.
We thought we would get back in time for lunch.
We looked at it was only 9:45am.
So we decided we would get off the bus a ways before our hotel and walk back along the beach back.

Resolutions

I don't usually make resolutions.  Yes there is the excitement of a new year a new me but I don't stick to anything very long.  I always watch what I eat and go to the gym off and on through out the year.  I always make big plans for myself spending hours researching, planning, making lists, and writing things down.  These also usually get pushed to the side and forgotten about.
Here is a list of the things I am usually trying to improve:
devotions
eating more healthy
exercising more
meal planning
activities with Jordan
organizing
cleaning
read a book
blog
do something with pics-scrapbook/project life/picture frames

When it comes down to it what I really need to do to make all these things work is work on my time management.  It seems like I can get through a day or week and think what have I done with my time.  I usually spend the mornings cleaning, laundry, making meals, cleaning up meals, pay bills, ect.  I am always looking forward to rest time so I have a few minutes of quiet with out running, yelling, mom...mom...mom, he did that, she is looking at me, he touched me, you know the day to day stuff.  I end up wasting time away on the computer with facebook, pinterest, and blog reading.  The afternoons are my real wasted space. I am starting to get tired, looking forward to the evening, and don't have any desire to do much. We do snack, Michelle does homework, Jordan plays, and I kind of float/ space out.  I can usually get myself to do some dishes, fold the laundry in the dryer, get in a few games of hanging with friends, and dinner for kids.  We usually head to the gym around 5:30 and don't get home until close to 7.  Then it is a shower, pjs, and I hit the couch.  I usually stay there until a quick cleaning burst and bed.
I know I can do way better with my time.  I have less child care kids now so will be having a lot more days of just Jordan and I. I want time management to be my thing I work on this year.  I feel I can get so much more done that I want to do if I use my time better.  I did work on a cleaning schedule so the neglected parts of the house (upstairs) get some attention. I am going to start with that.  If i can get that down to a routine I would love to make a "schedule" for myself to try and follow.
If i can get a handle on time I feel I can do all the things above and some so I can feel more accomplished at the end of the day.
Kind of rambled on and on but my thoughts for now.

29th Birthday

December 6
The big 29!  Last year in my 20's!
I would by lying if I said my day started out amazing.  I got up, got ready, Jordan came in sleep eyed and snuggled with daddy til I was ready.  Me and him went downstairs and I started in with my morning routine.

{I don't normally take pics of myself as part of my routine}

{Jordan and I}

{Load of laundry in.  I got hair dye on my pants last night :( }

{Coffee....Yes please}
 This is where I started to get in a funk.
I spilled mini chocolate chips on the floor. Jordan runs over and says, "I'll take care of that mom!" He then starts shoving handfuls in house.  He was trying to be helpful but I wasn't appreciated it.

I then look up to see a sink full of dishes....

then the overflowing garbage....and then the pile of recycling that needed to be taken out.  I then started grumping in my head about how I have to do all this stuff on my birthday.  I should be then one in bed or at least sitting at the table sipping coffee and checking facebook.  I took care off all the above but not happily.
 The not so perfect morning started my funk but isn't the reason for it.  I have been down the past few days.  Not sure why exactly but have some ideas (and has nothing to do with old age).
I carried on with my morning doing my best to tell myself and everyone else I was happy and Woo hoo it's my birthday!
{Michelle made this bracelet for me by using her hands to knit it}

{I did finally get to sit for about 5 minutes with my coffee and facebook}

{Then it was off to take this cute guy to preschool}
 When I got back I decided maybe making cupcakes would bring my spirits up

but then I got a text that Jana wanted to bring me coffee.  So I put off cupcake making and waited for her to come.  I was secretly hoping I could say hi to Cohen.  Guess who came to the door too with a card!  He even wore his Aunt is Awesome shirt!  I think missing Carter is having a bigger effect on me then I realize this past month.  This was just the thing I needed!  I brought a smile to my face and my heart (sounds cheesy I know).
{look at that face}

After they left I had more glad then sad.
Nine and I made my cupcakes together.

Folded laundry

{hair dye did not come out}
 we colored

Josh brought home subway for lunch

and after Jordan wanted to play a birthday game!

{Cars memory}

Though my day was no morning at the spa, day at the beach with sun, or at least some snow.  I was still very blessed by family and all the loving comments on facebook!
