summer swim lessons

I signed Jordan up for swim lessons again this summer.

It was a two week class every day Monday - Thursday.

Usually the classes are pretty full so the kids spend more time

shivering on the steps then swimming. This year he was in a class

with three other girls. Since they are at an older age they

were able to do most of the stuff all at the same time.

Jordan really benefited from the lessons and came a long way!

I want to sign him up for another one soon but with flag football

might be a little much. Before lessons Jordan could plug his

nose and swim around under water but that was it.

Now he can do so much and has a lot more confidence.

- can do a sitting, kneeling dive into pool and swim to other side of pool
- front & back float without support

- {still needs a little work} front crawl with side breathing

- {still needs a little work} backstroke with proper kicking

- tread water in the deep end

- jump into deep end and swim to side

I am very proud of him for overcoming the fear of doing it alone.

Most days before or after class he liked to swim under water 

and  have me count until he came up for air. 

He loved trying to beat his own time.

His final lesson was last Thursday so I actually brought my camera 

so I could document his great progress!

Every year we do one full day at the fair!

We get there when it opens and leave when the last ride shuts down.

We always take a late afternoon break for a bit and then

come back in the evening with Josh. 

This year we went with my sister in law Christine and my nephews!

I also brought along three of Michelle's friends to spend the day with us.

I also got ride passes for Josh and I because I still love rides.

Now that the kids are getting older and enjoy the more exciting

rides it is fun to join them!

We always start the day off checking out the animals!

I love seeing all the baby animals they are pretty cute.

After a few hours of rides we always hit up Little Caesars for lunch.

Gives us a little break outside of the fair. Plus it is quick and inexpensive to 

feed 5 hungry kids. They easily ate through an entire pizza and crazy bread.

We went home for a break at 3:30 so Jordan could get to swim lessons.
We then went home, had a quick bite to eat, got Josh and headed back.

 Like I said earlier I love rides! I loved being able to go on lots of rides with the
kids. That is why there aren't a ton of pics this year.
Jordan's favorite rides were the Yo-Yo {giant swings}, the super slide and the tilt a whirl!
I think the slide by fair was the best liked thing with the boys! They could
go over and over to their little hearts content. Plus it doesn't spin and make you feel sick.
They brought back a ride that hasn't been there since I was in high school the Sea Dragon.
I love/hate that ride. I don't like the feeling of I am going to fall out.
Jordan went on it once with Josh and I. He wasn't a fan but still voluntarily went on it
again later. He is such a rides guy just like me now!

I gave each of the kids $10 to spend any way they choose.
Jordan played this baseball throwing game and got a $10 banana!

We stayed until a little after 11. We ended with a peaceful ride on the Ferris wheel.
We missed the last shuttle so we had quite the walk back to the car.
