Simple Snapshots

Simple Snapshots
{cousins}

I woke yesterday morning in the mood to try and get some pictures
of the kids.  They are usually not very excited about this idea so
bribery is usually used.  Money and food are always winners!
I wanted to bring my little nephew along with us to get some of him
with his cousins since it has been a while since the last time.

We headed over to a local park Berthusan. I love it here because
lots of open space, barns, old tractors, lots of older buildings.

This was actually a mini photo shoot.
My battery was dying,
Cohen's boots kept falling and he didn't want to touch the wet grass
and Jordan was running away from me when
I tried to get him to hold still.
I think we were there a total of maybe 20 minutes.

It was still worth it though.
I got some really cute ones!
It is all about making the best of the moment.

love day

Josh and I celebrated a few days early on our date night.
Every Tuesday is our date day!
I met Josh at his office but first I really wanted a yummy
coffee. I have been having my coffee pretty bland at home
so a Starbucks coffee is a very tasty treat now!

We wanted to do something different this week
so we went to shoot guns.
It was a first time for me but something I have been wanting to try.
After a few shots I was pretty comfortable
and didn't have that bad of aim either!

Afterwards we ran a few errands like Costco and Walmart.
It is all about the time spent together right!
Then we went and had some yummy pad thai for dinner.

I had bunco that night so I went one way and he another to get Jordan.

On Valentine's day we had a pretty low key day.
Cohen stopped by to bring me a card and a yummy dessert.

Josh took flowers to Michelle at school and hand delivered them to her.
She also came home with a teddy bear and flower from a boy.

We all ate dinner as a family.

We gave the kids their Valentines baskets and decided last
minute to surprise them with our trip to Disneyland.

We were going to wait until the night before but I was ready to tell them.
I threw in a bunch of Mickey and Minnie things in their baskets.
When we told them Jordan could care less but Michelle was excited.
I don't think Jordan even knows or understands what Disneyland is.
We will change that soon!
We leave in 9 days!
Josh had a church league basketball game that we all went to.
Then it was home for strawberry milkshakes and Beauty and the Beast.

Apparently Jordan had already seen this movie while he was in my tummy.
My tummy has a tv in it and satelite coming out of it too!

After kiddos went to bed got in a dessert and a little snuggle time.

Peter Pan movie night

We were supposed to do our first Disney movie night last Sunday
but nice weather and the BBQ changed those plans.
Instead we did it Wednesday night.

We leave for Disneyland in 10 days so we are
fitting in as many Disney movies as we can.
Some nights will be themed some we will just watch!

We booked our trip a few weeks ago so I didn't have nearly
enough time to plan a bunch of themed nights.
We may continue these themed night monthly after we get back.

Anyways back to Peter Pan!
I got some decorations from the party section at wal-mart.
I also found these swords at the Dollar Tree.
I also printed up my own dinner menu and candy cards.
The tickets I found on pinterest.

My nephews joined us for dinner but left before the movie.
On the menu for dinner was
Jolly Roger Pizza
Pirate's gold corn
Captain Hook bread sticks
Peter pan fruit swords

The kids traded in their movie tickets for
gold coins for the candy table.
All the candy was purchased at the Dollar tree.
The candy show below is

pixie dust
{pixie sticks}

buried treasure
{wrapped rolos}

cannon balls
{whoppers}

"second star from the right" bursts
{starbursts}

Activities I thought about doing but we didn't end up doing were
a treasure hunt to find gold coins and ring pops,
put on tattoos and make glowing jars
by breaking a glow stick in a jar and sprinkle with glitter.

Sunday fun day

With the Super bowl over and done with
football season is finally over for a while!!!

Next up is softball season.
Before that gets going in full swing I am turning
Sunday into family fun day!

I will start making a big breakfast for us all to sit down
and eat together before church.  With Michelle out
the door a little after 7 each morning to get the bus
we don't get to have a family breakfast together ever.

After breakfast will be church, nice sit down lunch,
and family planned activities.
For the month of February it is going to be
Disney themed movie night!

As the weather gets nicer/warmer we will hopefully
be able to do family bike rides, walks, picnics, parks, ect.

I am excited to start spending this time together and
shut off electronic gadgets for the day.

We had our first attempt yesterday at family fun day.
It didn't go as planned but we did have a family breakfast then church.
The afternoon was spent playing outside in the sun!
Not a warm one but sun!
We then bbqed dinner with my brother in law, nephew and neighbor.

We didn't get to the Peter Pan themed night I had planned
but you have to take full advantage of a sunny day around here.
It doesn't last long.

Our new plan is to have date night with the kiddos
tonight and then Peter Pan night on Wednesday!

Jordan and I are going to take Chutes and Ladders
{his current favorite game}
to Edaleen Dairy for our date.

ten on ten

ten on ten button

once a month on the tenth
taking a photo every hour for ten consecutive hours.
Finding much life and beauty
among the ordinary things of our day!

Today is the first Sunday in a while where the day wasn't centered around football!!
I decided that Sunday is going to be family funday.
It didn't go as planned today but we will keep trying.

8:30 am
I started off the morning with a cup of coffee.

9:30 am
I decided the first order of business for Sunday funday was
for us to start having breakfast together every Sunday before church.
We rarely all sit down for breakfast.
It is a busy time most days with school, work, ect.
I had to get up at a decent time to make a nice breakfast
of eggs, sausage, french toast and I even made a berry syrup.

10:30 am
I wanted to get a picture of Jordan's wiggly front top tooth.
It has been wiggly for weeks now and I think it is getting close
to finally coming out.

Skipped a few hours while we were at church
and ran a few quick errands.

1:15 pm
The view from my bed were I relaxed for a bit.

2:49 pm
Time to finally tackle the sink full of dishes.

3:43 pm
Michelle playing Mindcraft while I cleaned up the house.
Mean while Jordan was outside playing with the neighbor kids.

4:40 pm
The plan was to have a family themed dinner/movie night
but due to the nice weather bbq sounded like better idea.
My brother in law came over with my nephew and our neighbor also joined us.

5:12 pm
My nephew Cohen loves being outside.
While the men tended to the BBQ we walked up and down the alley,
practiced shooting some baskets and filled a dump truck full of rocks!

For the next few hours we ate dinner, visited, talked around the table,
played lots with Cohen and relaxed with electronics for a bit!

8:00 pm
