Angry Bird Cupcakes

While browsing pinterest for party ideas I came
across these cupcakes and had to make them!
The idea came from the blog The Crafting Chicks.
They looked like they would be easy enough.
I am so glad I started on these the night before.
They were easy to do but very time consuming getting all the
little details on and in place.
It was totally worth it though.
Jordan absolutely loved them and do did his party guests.
Here's how I made mine.

I asked Jordan what kind of cupcakes he wanted.
He chose chocolate so I made them using a box mix.
I always add to much mix for each cupcake so mine are more round on top.
They may be a little easier to decorate if more flat.

Then I gathered everything I would need to decorate.
Small marshmallows for eyes, mini chocolate chips for eyes & pig noses, jelly beans for feathers and ears, orange slices for beaks, black licorice for eyebrows,
(on Crafting Chicks they used the pull apart ones which would
have been way easier but I couldn't find them)
and large marshmallows for pigs noses.

To make I mixed the frosting with food coloring until got the right color.
Then frosted a cupcake and dipped into matching sprinkles.
I did not use sprinkles on the pigs.
I then added the details using frosting to help them stick.
I cut marshmallows in half for noses and thirds for eyes.

Here are my finished birds and pigs!

Angry bird party games

For my son's 6th Birthday he had an angry bird party.
I wanted to have some games for the party so I had to come
with a creative ways to have them angry bird themed.
Here is what I came up with.

Stack them up
Knock them down
I went to the Dollar tree and purchased a pack of green cups.
I then went online and searched for pig clip art.
I found one and copied it onto word six times
and printed onto green card stock.
You can download pigs here.

To play the game I got some sling shots at the Dollar Tree
to knock down the pig tower.

Knock them down
{another one}

I had a collection of formula and snack cans
so I cut green paper to fit them.
I then printed off more pigs to attached to them.
I was going to spray paint the lids green but never got time to do that.
I bought some harder balls at Dollar Tree to knock these down.

This Blows
This is a minute to win it game I just added pigs.
To play you use the straws to blow the cups across the table
with another player. First one across wins.

I also made marshmallow shooters that I saw over at Come Together Kids.
I had the kids load their shooter with marshmallows, step back,
and shoot for the bucket.
We had marshmallows every where!

Bean Bag Toss
I found this game at Wal-mart.
The object of the game is to toss the Angry Birds
beanbags through the holes on the target.

Angry Birds Mega Smash
I bought this set on Amazon.
I set it out along with the cards for the kids to
pick a card, set it up, and knock it down.
Mattel Angry Birds Exclusive Board Game Mega Smash
Egg Hunt
I wasn't able to get any pre party or party pictures of this.
Before the party started I hide over 200 Easter eggs in my neighbors yard.
The eggs had an assortment of candy in them.
I told the kids the pigs stole a whole bunch of eggs and
needed there help to find them.

Photo Fun
One last thing I did was set up a photo spot with fun props for pictures.

I also had about 5 tubs of prizes from the Dollar Tree and Walmart.
I had these like punch balloons, winner necklaces, angry bird band aids,
silly straws, party blowers, parachute guys, guys with sticky hands & feet, and tons of candy.

A day in the life

On the 1st of each month I like to capture a day in the life of us.
It is fun for because it usually falls on a different day on the week
and something fun is usually going on.
I like taking pictures that represent our day to day life
and capture what they kids are into along with their personalities.

This month the 1st fell on a Wednesday.
We are halfway through summer and have been enjoying everyday.
Michelle has been spending her days at the creek with friends.
Jordan is up to his usually activities recycling, playing farm,
angry birds, legos, riding bike, and playing his DS.
Today I also had Cohen because both my sister Jana
and brother in law Danny were working.
I love having him and he has a great time playing cars
and rarely gets into mischief.

Here is our day in pictures!

7am to 8am
Breakfast and playtime

8am to 9am
play time, nap time, and cleaning for me!

Some one is getting sleepy!

10am to 11am
Waking up from nap time and then headed outside for a walk!

11am to noon
Lunch Time

The afternoon!
I slowed down with pictures as the day went on.
We did go back outside to watch the lawn care guys
mow the neighbors yard!

I honestly can't even remember how we spent the rest of the day.
That is one of the other reasons I take so many pictures.
